Description

The project is a pre-feasibility level project identification study to prepare a long-term strategic plan and a monitoring system for protection of the project areas. This will include identification of priority works that are required urgently as well as definition of further investigations and analysis that will be required to conduct a feasibility study.

A two-dimensional morphological model at PIRDP site at Pechakola has been developed to demonstrate the capability of the models for developing river training solutions. SWMC also proposed a comprehensive two year future Modelling programme for the implementation of the bank protection works at MDIP and PIRDP site, which includes planning, preliminary design (for tendering), final design for implementation and monitoring the response due to interventions and forecast of critical condition. The programme also includes a data collection on hydrometry and bathymetry for monitoring and updating the forecast.

SWMC developed a Database including all available information on hydrology, river topography, channel hydraulics, sediment transport and channel morphology at MDIP and PIRDP Sites and providing this to the Client in digital form.
