Mr. Ramesh Chandra Sen, MP, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Water Resources visited IWM on 22 February 2012. Professor Dr. M. Monowar Hossain, Executive Director, IWM welcomed the Minister and briefed on the different achievements and activities as well as future plans of the institute. All the Directors of the Institute attended the programme and briefed on the activities and achievements of their respective divisions especially Capital dredging in Gorai and major rivers’, Flood forecasting, major city water supply and drainage, TRM and solution to drainage problems of polders, Surface and groundwater irrigation, Removal of drainage problems and development of database.

The Minister took keen interest on different models and projects which the institute has developed. IWM’s contribution to the solution for various national water related problems drew his special attention. He appreciated IWM for its exposure to the international arena, specially opening IWM office in Malaysia. The Minister was accompanied by Mr. Muhammad Ruhul Quddus, PS and Joint Secretary, MOWR.
