INSTITUTE OF WATER MODELLING

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between institute of Water Modelling (IWM) and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, Bangladesh (BSMRMU) on 19 April, 2017 at the Conference Room of BSMRMU, Dhaka. Prof. Dr. M. Monowar Hossain, Executive Director, IWM and Commodore M Abidur Rahman, Registrar, BSMRM Usigned the MOU on behalf of their respective organizations. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Rear Admiral A S M Abdul Baten graced the ceremony as the chief guest. From IWM side, Dr. A F M Afzal Hossain, Deputy Executive Director (P&D) and Mr. M. Samiun Nabi, Manager, Business & Strategy were present in the MOU Signing Ceremony. From BSMRMU side the Treasurer, Deans, Faculty Members and other Senior officials attended the ceremony also.

The MOU aims to extend academic activities and to increase the quality of research facilities of national interest. By signing the MOU both the organizations will be able to exchange academic information, faculty support and develop the joint collaborative scientific and technological research and publication. The Chief Guest conveyed his thanks to IWM for stepping forward in the development of this university and also hoped that the scope of this cooperation will continue to extend in the future as well.

Prof. Dr. M. Monowar Hossain thanked the Chief Guest and emphasized on such joint collaboration for national development. He said that to achieve greater benefit from the recently gained maritime territory of Bangladesh, we should put a lot of importance on maritime capacity development. It was an unchartered territory for Bangladesh and now by developing Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU), it will be greatly helpful for Bangladesh to attain a strong role in this region. It will also facilitate to harness optimum benefits of Blue Economy. He concluded with assuring all expertise and knowledge of IWM for the development of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU).
