PROFILE DESCRIPTIONS

Academic Chronology

Md. Arifur Rahman did his graduation in Civil Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology in 2017.

Professional Track Record

I have been working as a professional in the field of Water Resources Engineering for more than seven years at the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM). I began my career on 22 January 2019 as a Junior Engineer in the Survey and Data Division, where I gained extensive experience in planning, coordinating and managing a wide range of engineering surveys, including topographic and bathymetric surveys, water level monitoring, and other hydrological data collection activities. Since July 2019, I have been serving in the Coast, Port and Inland Waterways Management (CPI) Division, contributing to numerous high-profile national projects. My responsibilities include conducting pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, implementing and monitoring engineering investigations and providing technical assessments related to flood management, river engineering, coastal engineering, navigation improvement, tidal river management, flood inundation mapping, climate change impact assessment. I possess practical experience in both one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) hydraulic and hydrodynamic modelling using MIKE software. My professional expertise encompasses hydrological and hydrodynamic modelling, polder water management, river morphology, coastal processes, and climate change projections. In addition, I am proficient in a range of engineering and geospatial software applications, including ArcGIS, AutoCAD and other specialized tools used in water resources planning, analysis and management.
