Professional Track Record

With over 17 years of IT experience, Mr. Rahman has served as Junior System Specialist at the Institute of Water Modelling (2010–present), where he manages enterprise-level IT infrastructure, data center operations, and server/network administration. Previously, he worked as a Network Engineer at Transcom Limited (2008–2010), where he was responsible for server setup, network security, IT solutions, and user support. His expertise spans Linux and Windows server administration, Cisco networking, cybersecurity, and enterprise IT system management.

Md. Arifur Rahman has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to professional excellence through advanced training and internationally recognized certifications, including Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE, 2009 – Base Limited) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA, 2012 – AIUB). He has strengthened his cybersecurity expertise through Metasploit for Penetration Testing (2017 – Dot Com Systems Ltd.), Cyber Security Awareness Training (2018 – Bangladesh Institute of Management), and Open Project Training (2020 – Synesis IT). Further enhancing his role in protecting organizational cyber infrastructure, he completed specialized Fortinet FortiGate Firewall training in 2025, gaining hands-on expertise in network security, firewall policy management, IDS/IPS, VPN configuration, threat prevention, and cyberattack mitigation.

He is also a Professional Member (M/29497) of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), reflecting his ongoing commitment to professional development and engineering excellence.

Major Project Assignments

Md. Arifur Rahman has played a pivotal role in several large-scale IT and infrastructure projects during his tenure as Junior System Specialist at the Institute of Water Modelling (2010–present) and earlier as Network Engineer at Transcom Limited (2008–2010). His contributions include end-to-end system administration, covering the design, installation, and management of DNS, Mail, Web, FTP, Proxy, and File servers, alongside comprehensive Cisco-based network solutions. He has successfully overseen the management and maintenance of a data center comprising 300+ computers and 30+ servers, ensuring business continuity with minimal downtime.

He provided IT infrastructure and technical support for major national and international development projects, including the Mathematical Modelling and Topographic Survey for Haor Flood Management (2015–2019) with Nippon Koei Co. Ltd., the Bangladesh Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project (2013–2017) funded by the World Bank, and the Urban Water, Drainage & Sanitation in 148 Pouroshavas (2010–2014) under the Department of Public Health Engineering. Additionally, he contributed to the National Water Management Plan Development (2014–2016) led by WARPO, supporting groundwater resource assessment, demand projections, and scenario testing.

Throughout these projects, Mr. Rahman has demonstrated expertise in Linux and Windows server environments, firewall and network security policies, Cisco router and switch configuration, and data protection strategies. He has also been responsible for implementing virtualization technologies, RAID, LVM, SELinux policies, and advanced troubleshooting of enterprise systems. His project involvement consistently focused on strengthening IT security, optimizing performance, and enabling seamless operations in highly technical and mission-critical environments.
