Academic Chronology

Md. Mahmudul Hasan Arif completed his Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) in Civil Engineering at Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) in September 2022. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science (M. Sc.) in Water Resources Engineering (WRE) at Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET).

Professional Track Record

Md. Mahmudul Hasan Arif has been working as a Junior Engineer at the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM) since February 2023. He is engaged in multidisciplinary water resources engineering projects involving hydro-meteorological data processing, water resources assessment, irrigation planning, and model development support. His core responsibilities include field data collection across diverse project locations, processing and quality checking of survey, groundwater, surface water, and hydro-meteorological datasets in model-compatible formats, and statistical analysis for water resources assessment. He also assists in preparation of input datasets for groundwater and hydrodynamic models, including data structuring and validation.

In addition, he is involved in preparation of longitudinal profiles, cross-sections, canal alignments, and project layouts using AutoCAD, GIS, and topographic data, along with earthwork volume estimation and technical drawing preparation for proposed interventions. He has practical experience in Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), stakeholder consultation, field investigation, and verification of mouza maps and project features. He also supports preparation of technical reports, presentations, workshop materials, and project documentation under senior supervision.

Md. Mahmudul Hasan Arif has enhanced his expertise through training in Groundwater Modelling at the Institute of Water Modelling, and he has participated in prominent conference.

Training Received:

• Training Program on Groundwater Modelling by Institute of Water Modelling (IWM), Venue: Institute of Water Modelling (IWM), Dhaka-1230, Bangladesh (February 23-27, 2025).
• Training on Sanitation for Urban Low-Income Communities by the Department of Civil Engineering, Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET), and International Training Network-Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (ITN-BUET). (July 8-9, 2019)
