PROFILE DESCRIPTIONS
Academic Chronology
Sazid Bin Sabbir obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Water Resources Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in May 2022. His thesis focused on flood inundation mapping using a hydrodynamic modeling approach.
Professional Track Record
Sazid Bin Sabbir has been engaged in professional work in the fields of climate change research, hydrology, hydrodynamics, and survey operations since January 2022. He is currently serving as a Junior Engineer in the Climate Change and Environment Unit of the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM), where he is involved in assessing and forecasting Urban Heat Island (UHI) effects using satellite and ground-based data, developing urban microclimatic models for outdoor thermal comfort evaluation, supervising meteorological data collection, conducting environmental and social impact monitoring, and performing comprehensive climate data analyses using advanced statistical methods. Prior to this role, he worked in IWM’s Survey & Data Division, where he gained hands-on experience in topographic, bathymetric, and discharge surveys, utilizing RTK, level machines, 3D laser scanners, single-beam echo-sounders, ADCPs, and current meters. Earlier in his career, he served as a Project Intern at the Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS), where he developed flood inundation maps using a hydrodynamic modeling approach. Through these diverse roles, he has developed expertise in remote sensing, climate data analysis, environmental monitoring, field supervision, and hydrodynamic modeling.
