PROFILE DESCRIPTIONS
Academic Chronology
Md. Siam Hossain completed his Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geology from the University of Dhaka in 2022 and subsequently completed his Master of Science (MS) in Hydrogeology and Water Resources Management from the same institution in 2023.
Professional Track Record
Md. Siam Hossain is a hydrogeologist and geoscientist with a strong academic foundation and growing professional experience in groundwater resources, geophysical investigations, and water quality assessment. His M.S. thesis focused on the Spatiotemporal Analysis of Historical Groundwater Level and Well Attribute Data for Sustainable Management of the Dupi Tila Aquifers in Dhaka City, supervised by Prof. Dr. Kazi Matin Uddin Ahmed (University of Dhaka) and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shamsudduha (University College London, UK).
He completed a 3-month internship at the Geological Survey of Bangladesh (GSB), gaining hands-on experience in Geology, Geophysics, Economic Geology, Geochemistry, Mineral Exploration, and Development Geology. He has also served as a Field Consultant in Hydrogeology under a UNICEF-supported project titled “Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of the Private Sector (IoC Drillers) for Arsenic-safe Drilling and Establishing a National Groundwater Monitoring System for Informed Decision-making.” In this role, he contributed to building institutional capacities for safer groundwater drilling practices and supporting informed water management decision-making at the national level.
His technical skill set includes proficiency in GIS and Remote Sensing (ArcGIS, QGIS, RockWorks17, Erdas Imagine), R programming, electrical resistivity surveys (VES and ERT), aquifer characterization through pump and slug tests, hydrochemical analysis, well installation and monitoring, and groundwater quality testing.
