Academic Chronology
Mr. S.M. Rafid Newaz graduated in Civil Engineering from Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology in 2015. He is pursuing an M.Sc. in Water Resources Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.Professional Track Record
Mr. Rafid has a professional career of around 8 years in computational hydraulics and hydrology. He started his career at IWM in January 2016. By this time, he has been involved in various fields like hydrological and hydrodynamic model development using MIKE 11; flood and drainage model development & different options simulation for decision making in FCDI projects; regional model updating and calibration; data collection, monitoring, and management; flood mapping, etc.Training/Membership/Workshop/Seminar/Publication etc.
TrainingMr. Rafid has received specialized training in mathematical modelling and GIS. He has attended several national seminars and conferences. He has also provided specialized training to various professionals.
As a trainer, Mr. Rafid provided the following training:
- Training on Data Collection, Mathematical Model Development, Planning, Design & ESIA Study to BWDB professionals under the “Feasibility Study for Surface Water Retention in Hurasagar River System and Flood Risk Management of Jamuna River in Sirajganj District” Project (7 June - 8 June 2023)
- Training on Rainfall-Runoff Model, Hydrodynamic Model (1D) and Flood Forecasting Model with data Assimilation (30 October – 3 November 2022)
